Dharam Pal Puri, commonly known as D. P. Puri, was born in Amritsar (Punjab, India) on 04 June, 1946 to Purshottam Lal Puri and Raj Rani Puri.
He completed his primary education at Mrs. Buck School, Nainital (Uttrakhand, India). He completed the rest of his education from a school in Bazpur, Nainital.
He completed his Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.) from Maharaja’s College, Jaipur (Rajasthan, India) in 1965. After that, he completed his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. – Electrical) from Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College (now called Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology), Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh, India), in 1969.
After completing his studies, D. P. Puri joined his father’s business. After a few years, he ventured out on his own and started a business of power solutions in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh, India) by the name of Stylex Corporation. He was the first to start a business of inverters in the area.
He got married to Indu Duggal (now Indu Puri) on 24 April, 1974. They were blessed with two children – a son and a daughter.
He joined Rotary Club in 1996 and remained a dedicated social worker throughout.
He was a favourite of his family and friends. As fate would have it, he got diagnosed with a disease called ILD – Interstitial Lung Disease – a disease that took him away on 30 April, 2013.
D. P. Puri is deeply missed – today and forever.
